Clearwater Hospital Integration |
Dr Helmcken Memorial Hospital is located in Clearwater, British Columbia. Energetic Concepts was contracted to integrate a legacy Johnson Controls system. The Johnson Controls system had limited management access from remote locations. In the event of power failure to the system the setpoints would reset to a default value and a technician would have to travel to the site to reset all the setpoints to their proper values. The only user interface offered was a thick client that could only be accessed from on site. The solution was to add a mediator to the control system. The mediator is capable of communicating with the Johnson Control system over the N2 network and can read and write the control points including the setpoints. After this addition, the mediator maintains the proper setpoints in the event of a power failure. The mediator also has a built in web server that offers a state of the art web based user interface that can be accessed from any location using any web browser. |

| In 2008 work on the retrofit of the C Building and addition of a new Student Union Building (LSU) has begun. The C building combined with the LSU are planned as a Gold LEED project. The LSU will utilize Geothermal supply, slab heating and cooling. The C Building will be retrofit with heating/cooling air delivery systems, chilled beams and a complexed heat recovery system. | |

| In 2006 the work on the new Langara Library began. It is planned to be a Platinum LEED building with 180 geothermal wells, slab heating/cooling, passive wind cooling and many more features. The Library local control system is Invensys LonWorks supplied by Modern Systems Management. It is integrated into the existing Richards-Zeta Mediator hosting system. The other systems integrated into the Host are QEL Carbon monoxide and Propane, Schnieder modbus power meters, Wattstopper lighting system and a legacy Delta Controls BacNet system in the B building. Point count is approximately 3200. | | |

| The health center in Barriere, BC underwent a major upgrade to all of their HVAC equipment in 2007/08. Energetic Concepts was contracted to design and install the DDC controls for the project. The specification requested BACnet certified devices were to be used so KMC Controls were used for this project. Below is a screen shot of one if the control web pages served up by the building controller. The animations and point data indicate the operation of the system and give operators the ability to set over-rides. | |
